Mastering Mediation
English spoken education to become a Proactive Business Mediator

Become an internationally recognized mediator

Accredited professional training with a proactive approach

A structured pathway to becoming a mediator

This programme is designed for professionals who want to become a mediator or integrate mediation into their professional practice.

You will learn the core principles, structure, and skills of professional mediation, combined with a proactive approach that enables you to guide parties in a clear and effective way towards well-considered and sustainable outcomes.

In practice, this may involve working with parties in a complex dispute where positions are entrenched, structuring the process, engaging with both the interaction and the content of the case, and intervening where needed to support parties in reaching well-considered and sustainable outcomes.

The training is internationally accredited and provides a recognised pathway towards certification and working as a professional mediator.

The Academy of Legal Mediation is powered by Toolkit Company. One of the lead trainers is Manon Schonewille, author of Toolkit Mediation: Generating Outcomes.

Meet the Team.

Beyond standard mediation

The training covers established mediation frameworks and standards, while also introducing a more deliberate way of working: proactive mediation

A proactive mediator :

  • actively guides the process and, where appropriate, engages with the content of the mediation

  • structures and guides the process in a clear and transparent way

  • supports parties in exploring both opportunities and risks

  • intervenes where the process requires direction

  • helps parties move from positions to underlying interests

  • uses different mediation approaches

This reflects practice. where parties and their advisors often expect the mediator to do more than facilitate alone. Effective mediation requires both process discipline and well timed intervention, while maintaining impartiality and party self-determination.
